As tire replacements can often be unexpected and expensive, taking proper care of them will help to avoid such incidents.

Car and Truck Tire Warning Signs:

  • Your tires squeal when cornering.

  • Uneven tread wear. This could be caused by inadequate inflation, misaligned wheels or damaged tires.

  • Poor vehicle handling. It may be that your tires are over inflated or lacking the necessary tire tread.

  • Cracking, cuts or blisters on the sidewalls. If you notice any of these signs, replace the tire at once. These signal potential weak spots that could result in sudden tire failure.

  • When you see a narrow rubber stripe (wear bar) running across your tires it indicates your tire has reached a point that, by law, it must be replaced.

  • Excessive vibration. Vibration can be a sign a tire is misaligned, unbalanced, or bent. It could also signify internal tire damage. Have your vehicle seen to by one of our technicians right away.

Tires provide the traction for stopping, cornering and they help absorb road bumps to give you a smooth, safe and comfortable ride.

Recommendations to Maximize Tire Life

Tires are a big investment financially as well as for performance and safety reasons. For these reasons you'll need to ensure you do all the things you can to prolong their life and continue to get good gas mileage and performance. You can get the most out of your tires with routine maintenance and by following these tips from us.

  • Tire pressure should be checked once a month. Remember to check once your tires are cold and have not been driven in more than 2 kilometers or during the last 3 hours. This is because air is a gas and it contracts when cold. If your tires are overheated you will get an elevated reading. This is why it's also important to check your tires regularly in winter. Tires can lose 1 psi (pound per square inch) per month and additional loss in air pressure can result with drops in temperature. Also, make sure you do more than just look at your tires. A 10 psi drop can easily go unnoticed. So be sure you have a good gauge and inflate your tires to the manufacturer's recommended tire pressure, which should be in your manual or driver's side door edge.

  • Front tires endure extra wear because the outer edges are in contact with the road more when turning. To get the most out of your tires be sure to rotate them as recommended within your owner's manual. This will help your tires wear more evenly, and result in a safer and more consistent drive.

  • Purchase new tires in pairs or in sets of four at our tire repair shop, because mixing new tires with old (or different types) can lead to poor handling. Furthermore it is crucial that they're the same size, and that the speed rating and load carrying capabilities meet or exceed your original tires' load capacity.

  • Most people do not realize that new tires require an initial break-in period. A lubricant is applied during manufacturing to prevent them from sticking to their mold. Remnants of this lubricant can remain on your tire and affect traction. It will eventually be removed through friction with the road, but it's well worth being aware of when you first install new tires.

Types of Tires Available

  • All-season tires are the most popular kinds of tires sold these days. They have the ability to handle most conditions including dry, wet and small quantities of snow.

  • Performance tires are designed to really grip the road. They provide crisp, responsive handling but you may sacrifice some ride comfort.

  • Winter tires are specially constructed to provide traction on snow-covered roads. They continue to be supple in cold weather and additionally have a more aggressive tread design to provide you with better traction. We can also install studs.

  • Off-road tires are created to be rugged enough for the back trails and then modified to make them comfortable on highways as well. They should provide grip and traction in mud and turf as well as a smooth ride on the highway.

Winter Tires

While all-season tires can effectively handle both dry and wet roads, we recommend winter tires for driving in snowy conditions. Spring and fall tire service should consist of exchanging summer or light all-season tires for winter, or snow tires.

Winter tires provide more traction and grip, which will provide you better control over your vehicle in snowy and icy conditions. The tread design is quite different from all-season tires – it’s more aggressive, resulting in superior control and grip so that your wheels don’t just spin in slippery weather.

Winter tires also remain pliable in colder temperatures because they’re designed with rubber compounds designed not to harden in lower temperatures as all season tire compounds do. Softer compounds help them to stick to ice and dig through snow in the cold helping you stay safe and drive with confidence in our snowy Canadian winters.

Performance Tires

Performance tires are intended for superior handling at high speeds. They are ideal for "sporty" cars or driving styles, while standard all-season tires are created for easy handling and provide a softer ride.

Performance tires are manufactured with a rubber compound different than other tires use; they are designed to remain softer and stickier, allowing the vehicle to hug tight curves and corners and keep you fully in control of your motor vehicle at higher speeds. Many performance tires are shorter and wider in comparison with other tires so there is more contact with the road, which provides better traction in dry conditions. Short tire sidewalls limit the amount of lateral tire movement on the rim, improving cornering. Performance tires also have a shorter braking distance because of better adhesion as well as a larger footprint on the road.

Performance tires offer improved handling and control to produce a smooth, comfortable ride. They have much shallower grooves than winter tire treads, so performance tires are not by any means appropriate for snowy weather. Our tire repair experts can advise you on the best performance tires for your vehicle.

Tire Pressure monitor and programming service

Keeping your tires in check is easier now more than ever. With TPMS sensors in place, your car tells you if pressure is out of whack and even gives a live reading of tire pressure in some cases. With this system in place, you have almost no excuse not to be running the right tire pressure at all times. That is unless your TPMS sensors are out of whack. But even that is made easy when you add a TPMS tool to your collection. This device is how you keep your tire pressure monitoring system in check. The only thing standing between you and the perfect model for your situation is the hunt, and that's exactly what we're here to handle.
